Cultivating Curating
Program for Curatorial Reciprocity
The main collaborators for this initiative included Something Else, Darb 1718, ARD Art Institution, The Swedish Curators' Association, Index - The Swedish Contemporary Art Foundation, CuratorLab, and SITE Zones.
Cultivating Curating arose from a shared interest among cultural workers in Egypt and the Nordics to exchange knowledge about curatorial practices. The initiative aimed to establish new platforms for curators and explore the role of curating today, beyond traditional Western perspectives.This exchange project facilitated peer-to-peer learning and highlighted the need for further educational opportunities in curating to support younger generations. It was financially supported by the Nordic Culture Fund Globus Opstart + and guided by an Advisory Board.
As a result of this project, a series of public talks and discussions on curatorial practices in art occurred in both Egypt and the Nordics, culminating in the Something Else Symposium held in February 2025.
