Skankaloss, Gagnef art and music festival

2016, 2017, 2018

For three years, Sara Rossling was the co-curator of Skankaloss, the art and music festival in Gagnef, together with one of its founding members, artist Mattias Norström who runs the art venue Missionen.

Skankaloss was an annual art and music festival in Gagnef, Dalarna, run by the NGO cultural association Skankaloss in an old folk park. It was active for about twenty years. Currently, the festival is on hold. The folk park Ängsholn is located by the river Dalälven, surrounded by forest and with walking distance to Minnesstugan, in the rural areas of the old village of Gagnef. It is an elastic open site, a possible stage, and a playground for contemporary music, art, and cultural events. The folk park is a piece of Swedish culture and workers' history, a meeting place in the open air dedicated to the public on non-working days, with a structure and architecture typical to Sweden in the early 1900s.

The art program during 2016, 2017, and 2018 curated by Sara Rossling presented several performances, interactive artworks, and installations by artists such as Sandra Mujinga, Roxy Farhat & Anouscha Caroline Andersson, Simon Mullan, Alice Håkansson, OUFF collective (Afrang Nordlöf Malekian, Diana Agunbiade-Kolawole, Francine Agbodjalou Andreas Nur, Cristian Quinteros Soto, Ehab Aljabi, Samuel Girma, Theresa Traore Dahlberg), Iris Smeds, Helena Lund-Ek, Fanitza Ignea, Alex Backstrom, Emilie Sandström, Viktor Rosdahl, Åsa Eliesson, and Liva Isakson Lundin.
